Living Vintage fashion shows Northern Ireland
Living Vintage fashion shows is a family concern of vintage fashion loving sisters and friends who show off their collection of fabulous clothes and accessories in an atmosphere of fun and nostalgia. Cancer Research is their chosen charity.
Living Vintage is a celebration of how to put on the style from the 40’s ‘make-do-and-mend’ to the glamour of the New Look into the 50’s.
“The glorification of the female form “after the austerity of the second world war is brought to life on the catwalk by beautiful models who smile and model in the 1950’s style of gentleness and femininity. The compere of the show adds the details to the outfits and keeps all the models on their toes. Whether pencil slim or full and flirty, Living Vintage post-war styles gives ladies back their femininity.
Living Vintage evenings are great fun, most enjoyable, lots of “ooh’s and aah’s” and a good few laughs!
So what is Vintage? – Wayne Hemingway founder of Red or Dead and the Vintage Revival festival sums it up as, ‘cool classic music, fashion, art and design that stands the test of time and deserves to be introduced to future generations’.
Living Vintage has introduced its concept to lots of people from golf clubs, ladies societies and churches organisations. The main appeal of Vintage clothing is style. Fashion and accessories made in the mid-20th century when design first became available to the girl in the street were well made, affordable and fun. These items still suit our lives today since we have seen all this style on the silver screen or in grandmothers’ houses and today Living Vintage brings it to life on a stage with a large dollop of nostalgia.
Young people look to certain periods of history and wish they had experienced it, others who have lived through it love to remember it. The feedback and the fun and enjoyment that Living Vintage receives during and after their shows is really very touching as it brings back so many memories to so many people. You only need one hat or one suit to set off a trip down memory lane.
The shows consists of a number of exciting themes which includes day dresses with frivolous frills, evening attire with pretty trims, a day at the races, suits and jackets and not forgetting the bridal collection. All accessorised with vintage jewellery hats, bags, shoes, gloves and seamed stockings!
Finding vintage clothes that fit our figures can sometimes be a challenge but whatever your size or figure anyone can carry off a vintage handbag. Living Vintage have an extensive range of handbags – wicker work, Lucite boxes, Kelly bags, Resort or Vacation bags, decorated with poodles, feathers and skins, these bags are witty, eccentric and people just fall in love with them. “Nothing is more glamorous than a lady’s vintage bag clasped in a gloved hand.”
Living Vintage has inherited and collected an amazing collection of hats gathered with love and discretion over many years. Hats that are tilted at a jaunty angle have a flirtatious quality, including small and perked to wide brim cartwheel, feathered, felt and straw and of course net to add that air of mystery.
The Living Vintage evenings have been met with great acclaim and most venues have been sold out.
